Henry Mejia An Essential Worker from our Frontline Heroes

During this pandemic essential workers not only get us what we need, but also where we need to go and truly are the heroes in the Corona virus Covid 19 story. Henry Mejia is just one of those essential workers and Heroes. A Westchester County NY bus driver on route 2 Bronx to Yonkers who now has to be behind a plastic wall and no contact with his riders for everyone's safety. This a bus driver that even Ralph Kramden would be proud of and others aspire to be! On many days after Mejia is done with his route he comes home to home school his daughter which he loves her very much! This essential worker is not only bus driver, but a bodybuilder too. A very accomplished Bodybuilder who I first came across last year at the bodybuilding competition in Teaneck, NJ. As we take a look at some of our essential workers in these shorts interviews, please thank them as they get us through this very rough period. Henry I want to thank-you in advance and know we appreciate you and thank-you for your service! God Bless.

How did  you get started in bodybuilding and physical fitness?

Well ,Steve I’ve always been involved in some sort of sport ,but I started lifting when I was 15 years old ,in the backyard,my grandpa built some dumbbells and a curl bar..made of cement of course and ,then I at 17 o’clock joined a gym ,and I did my first bodybuilding show in 2011

Now that many of us are under quarantine and can’t I get out how should we be doing exercises and getting physical activity?

It’s just important to keep your routine ...I know is not the same to workout at home ,and personally I’m not expecting gains..but is about keeping that sense of normalcy,do some pushups, sit ups ,crunches, and if you have some equipment available go for it ,keep your routine just like you do at the gym, again keeping that sense of normalcy help a great deal mentally

What are some great meals you are eating during this time?

The meals ! Very important,I’m eating 6 meals at day still, and the most important meal ..is my cheat meal lol !

You are not only great shape, but you are essential worker tell us about your job?

Thank you Steve ,I try to stay in good shape year round ,I’m a Westchester county bus driver ..15 year veteran,it’s been hard on us just like everybody else this past few weeks , but God willing we’ll get through this !

What are some supplements and vitamins you take and what should we be taking during this time?

Right now I’m taking my isolate protein of course ,and my preworkout ...what supplements would I recommend?..id say keep you protein shake ,and if you feel the need to take a preworkout to give you that extra energy,go for it ,other than that ,I’d keep it simple..I’d make emphasis on my food ,that’s the key ..I know when you’re home we tend to get hungrier, however me must stay discipline ..because if we go crazy with the eating now ,it’ll be harder to get back on track once this is over

What are some exercises that woman can do during quarantine?

Good question ,I know women love training their lower body(thighs, glutes)so I would recommend,Bulgarian squats , regular squats lunges(walking ,alternating )all this in a CIRCUIT to maintain the intensity, doesn’t matter whether you’re at home or the gym, always
train intense !

Who is your idol or mentor?

I don’t really have an idol ...however I do admire the Austrian Oak ,Arnold, not just because he is one one of the greatest bodybuilders ever ,but for what he accomplished in his life, and it all started with

 bodybuilding.
